Closed beta · the roommate app

A shared home, without the household manager.

Homies takes the awkward reminders, debts, chores, and shopping list into one calm place, so nobody has to chase the house to keep it running.

Free during beta. No live location. Household data stays inside your home. We never sell it.

Three steps, zero chasing

  1. Get everyone in

Drop one invite code in the apartment group chat. Everyone joins in about 10 seconds, even the roommate who never downloads anything.

  2. Move the mess in

The bills, the chores, the shopping list, who's home tonight. One shared home instead of five group chats and a pinned list nobody updates.

  3. Let it keep score

Balances settle in one tap, chores rotate on schedule, the list updates itself. The reminder text you rewrote three times? Never gets written.

Everything you've been tracking in your head

Presence

Know who's home without asking

‘Anyone home tonight?’ texted into a silent group chat. Homies just shows it: an optional geofence flips your status between home and away. No live tracking, never a map, off in one tap. Dinner for four, confirmed before you cook.

Expenses

Get paid back without the speech

That ‘I’ll pay you back’ from three weeks ago? Gone. Add the bill, split it, and monthly balances show exactly who owes whom. One tap settles up, with debts simplified so each person pays once.

Shopping

Never the last roll again

One shared list, live on every phone, with priority tags so whoever's at the store knows the toilet paper outranks the oat milk. No ‘what was on the list?’ call from the dairy aisle.

Chores

A chore wheel that doesn't die

The fridge chart lasted two weeks. This one rotates itself: set a chore once and Homies hands it to the next person on schedule. Sub-task checklists settle what ‘clean the kitchen’ actually means, so done means done.

Get your home into the closed beta

Homies is opening to a few homes at a time. Join once for your home, get an invite when your spot opens, and bring your roommates in from there.

  • Free during the closed beta, no card to join
  • First homes help shape what v1 becomes
  • Invite roommates to move your home up for earlier access

I'm Shai, the founder. I'm building Homies with the first homes in beta, so the weird edge cases from your apartment are exactly what I want to hear.

for your home

One beta spot covers your home. When it opens, create the home and invite your roommates in: they don't need separate waitlist spots.

  3. 3Open the homeWhen your spot opens, everyone joins from there.

No charge during beta, no card to join. We'll be upfront about pricing before the beta ends.

What stays inside these walls

Homies knows what you spend and when you're home. That takes trust, so here are the exact lines we don't cross.

A quiet ‘home’ or ‘away’

That's the whole feature. Opt-in, never a map, no live location, and off in one tap.

Sealed to your household

Every expense, chore, and list is sealed to your household in the database itself, not by a policy promise. The only people who see anything are the people you live with. Nobody else, not even by accident.

No mystery bills

Expenses and settlements stay visible to the household: what was logged, how it was split, and what was marked settled. No awkward screenshot chase, no private ledger one person has to defend.

You're not the product

Homies is built to work for you, not for advertisers. We're not funded by ads or by your data. No ads, no selling your data, no handing anything to advertisers, ever. We only ever answer to you.

Fair questions

The things you'd ask a friend before joining. Answered straight.

Homies is in closed beta, and we're opening it to roommates a few homes at a time. Join and we'll email you one invite the moment your home's spot opens. That's the entire inbox commitment.

Yes. The closed beta is free while we build it, and there is no credit card to join. We will be upfront about pricing before the beta ends.

Yes. The beta spot is for the home: when it opens, create or join the home and invite roommates from there. They don't need separate waitlist spots. Anyone who joins through your link moves you up for earlier access.

Every roommate who joins through your link moves you up the list, so the more of your home signs up, the sooner you're all in.

Both, on the same day. Nobody waits on the one Android holdout in the house. A web version comes later.

Homies is the shared household record: logged expenses, splits, balances, and settlements are visible to the people in that home. It doesn't verify bank transfers or enforce payments; it keeps everyone looking at the same source of truth, with fewer awkward follow-ups.

You opt in, and a geofence around your home flips your status between home and away when your phone crosses it. Battery-efficient, never a map or live location, off in one tap. Your roommates see home or away, and nothing else.

Only the people you live with. Each household is sealed off in the database itself, so nothing crosses between homes. We never sell your data and never share it with advertisers.

While you wait for your invite, the playbooks

Homies is rolling out in closed beta. The guides cover running the place by hand in the meantime: the rent math, the chore rotation, the shopping list that actually works.
